OVERVIEW
About the Sitahan project
Sitahan is a platform for daily prices of construction and industrial steel — from rebar and I-beams to sheets, profiles, pipes, angles and channels. Every product's price is shown by mill and size, and buyers can compare different mills side by side.
Next to the price tables we built weight calculators, price trend charts, a price page for every city and complete buying guides, so the site is useful for professional buyers and also appears in the most frequent searches of the steel market.
Challenge
The steel market has thousands of product, size and mill combinations, and prices change every day. We needed a structure that keeps thousands of product and category pages up to date, shows out-of-stock items correctly and has an exact, separate page for every common search such as "rebar 14 price today".
Solution
A flexible data model for product, mill, size and price history was designed, and landing pages are generated from it: a page for every size, every mill, every city and their combinations. Out-of-stock items show a quote button instead of a stale number, and pages are statically generated with automatic rebuilds, so they are both fast and always current.
